چکیده
Interference between superexchange pathways causes anisotropic magnetic interactions, leading to dimerisation and remnant quasi-one-dimensional spin chains, explaining the absence of long-range order in a 3D coordination polymer.

Hydrodynamic interactions in ribbon channels: from quasi-one-dimensional to quasi-two-dimensional behavior.
We present a study of the dynamics of confined suspensions whose dimensionality is intermediate between quasi-one-dimensional and quasi-two-dimensional (q2D) using microfluidic channels of various widths. The crossover between the two limiting behaviors is found to occur to different extent for different dynamic correlations between a pair of particles. In particular, the transverse coupling di...
متن کاملFragile three-dimensionality in the quasi-one-dimensional cuprate PrBa2Cu4O8
In this article we report on the experimental realization of dimensional crossover phenomena in the chain compound PrBa2Cu4O8 using temperature, high magnetic fields and disorder as independent tuning parameters. In purer crystals of PrBa2Cu4O8, a highly anisotropic three-dimensional Fermi-liquid state develops at low temperatures. This metallic state is extremely susceptible to disorder howeve...
متن کاملTheory of thermodynamic magnetic oscillations in quasi-one-dimensional conductors.
The second order correction to free energy due to the interaction between electrons is calculated for a quasi-one-dimensional conductor exposed to a magnetic field perpendicular to the chains. It is found that specific heat, magnetization and torque oscillate when the magnetic field is rotated in the plane perpendicular to the chains or when the magnitude of magnetic filed is changed. This new ...
متن کاملDisordered Bose-Einstein condensates in quasi-one-dimensional magnetic microtraps.
We analyze the effects of a random magnetic potential in a microfabricated waveguide for ultracold atoms. We find that the shape and position fluctuations of a current carrying wire induce a strong Gaussian correlated random potential with a length scale set by the atom-wire separation. The theory is used to explain quantitatively the observed fragmentation of the Bose-Einstein condensates in a...
